Seven minute briefings are based on research, which suggests that seven minutes is an ideal time span to concentrate and learn. Learning for seven minutes is manageable for practitioners in most services, and learning is more memorable as it is simple and focussed on the relevant topic.
The information may not always take 7 minutes to read and absorb but the DSCP will endeavour to make the information require no more than 7 minutes of your time. The content of the briefings will be a mixture of new information (such as learning from Serious Case Reviews) or act as a reminder of basic information and contain links to further sources, with the challenge to think about the application of the knowledge to your practice and in supporting colleagues.
